Reds Lists and Yellow Lists
A Red List is a commented list of plant and animal species which either have disappeared, are threatened, vulnerable or rare.
A Yellow List comprehends plant and animal species in retrogression and species to which Denmark has a specified responsibility by international conditions. In other words an index of species,
-
which should be given the possibility to become re-established or consolidated through applied nature management,
-
which should be given consideration in planning and management,
-
which should be monitored and protected to prevent their disappearing,
-
which should be searched for if they are considered to be disappeared.
Red Lists are compiled on both international and national plans. In Denmark DMU – in english NERI for National Environmental Research Institute – is responsible to the updating of the lists.
