Story The Kiev Conference 21 - 23 May 20003. The declaration on biodiversity

The Kiev ministerial conference is the fifth such event held under the 'Environment for Europe' process begun in 1991. Information about the conference is available at http://www.unece.org/env/wgso/index_kyivconf.htm and http://www.kyiv-2003.info/main/index.php. A Biodiversity Resolution is submitted for adoption, pointing to the importance of a pan-European ecological network of nature sites (PEEN) and to the need for coordination and collaboration on biodiversity monitoring and indicator development. ECNC, BirdLife International and EEA have collaborated to produce a brochure on the need for biodiversity monitoring and indicators to serve as background for of the declaration.
